Auto Industry Innovation is an oxy moron.
Model T 1908 - Average Mileage 25 mpg
Today's average car mileage - 24 mpg (pushed up significantly by the Prius)
2001 average car mileage - 21 mpg
2001 average car mileage - 21 mpg
My car (Nissan Muran0) - 18.3 mpg
Here are some of my alternative taglines for our car makers on the occassion of this 100th year
Toyota: "moving backward" - a little harsh considering the Prius
Honda: "the power of dreams" is not working
GM: "An American Revolution" - god what an insult
Chrysler: "Engineered Beautifully", just needs a "little" gas to run
Ford: "bold doesn't move" but "Old Moves" - go back a 100 years and figure it out
Nissan: "Shift" you assess and get me more mpg
